Construction on the main house started the first week of May and has been ongoing since. The cesspool inspection was completed the second week of May and went really well. Last Friday we had our foundation inspection and it to was signed off with no problems.  Concrete is scheduled to be poured Wednesday, June 1 and construction moving forward should start June 6.   We are very excited to start this new phase in our adventure but at the same time it’s a very nerve-racking experience and financially it’s very scary.  I guess that’s why they say “no guts, no glory”.  If everything goes as planned we should have the shell and core complete within the next six weeks. After that, we’ll complete electrical and plumbing rough in’s and hopefully get occupancy by years end.  I will try and post as much pictures and information as possible but it is been very difficult to find the time with work and construction.

The Last photo was taken just after the footing excavation began. With the portable garages and giant holes everywhere, I couldn’t help but see a striking resemblance to a Syrian refuge camp with mine fields. The picture of Sig is the pad for our catchment tank. It took about 4 tons of basecourse and 5 tons of sand that I spread and compacted with a plate compactor from work.  I also used the company truck and trailer to haul and dumb it. After seeing how much a 3/4 ton diesel struggled with each load, I’m glad I didn’t use my truck, or fuel for that matter.
