On Saturday 2-13-16 Bonny and I started construction on the outdoor kitchen area, we poured the concrete footings after forming up some re-bar inside some scrap pipe that I shipped over in the container. Big thanks to my previous employer (Titanium Excavation) for letting me take some of it home.
On 2-20-16 the neighbor and I started the framing. I haven’t really decided how I want to finish it, my main focus right now is getting it built so we can have a permanent shower. We did buy a solar shower that works great, but only if the sun is out which is never guaranteed here. I’m planning on gradually chipping away at it during week nights and weekends. Hopefully it is finished with in a months time.
Here is some updated progress, I had my neighbor help me set the sub floor and we got one wall framed but then he found a full time job so I’ve been on my own to finish. I framed up the remaining three walls on 3/5 and 3/7 and I found a local guy here in the neighborhood who is going to help me do the roof framing and exterior siding.
I was planning on getting a lot done today (3-12-16) but the rain has returned and my hired hand is afraid of getting wet. It’s rained a 1/2″ by 9:30 this morning, I’m eager to finish so hopefully tomorrow is dryer. I have to get this structure complete in order to move the kitchen area as it is in the footprint of the house. I did finally get our building permit from the county on Friday (3-11-16), so once I get all the tents moved construction can begin.
