After much applying and several interviews, I’m proud to announce that I have landed a full time job with a general contractor as a project manager. I have been fortunate enough to have two different job offerings and gladly accepted the first one that came my way. I wish I could announce that we’ve received our building permit from the county, but that hasn’t happened yet, hopefully soon. My first day at work was technically 2-15-16, which was presidents day, an observed payed holiday at my new employer. If starting a job with a paid day off isn’t the sign of a great company, I don’t know what is. We actually get 13 paid holidays a year, so all the federal ones are recognized and few others too. It’s a rather small general contractor which is really a good thing. I enjoy being a person and not just a number. 401K, insurance and paid vacation are all included. I also get a company truck with a fuel card, though I don’t get to bring it home. The commute is about 40 minutes one way but that was more then likely going to be impossible to avoid with any employer here based on the location of our property and it’s distance from local industry. So far I think I’m fitting in rather well and I’m enjoying all my coworkers. The only down side, as I’m sure most of you have noticed, is it doesn’t leave much time for blogging. I will try to post as much as possible but it is a little tricky with limited internet access and no wifi. I could post from work but then I wouldn’t be able to up load any pictures and who really wants to read stuff without a visual aid. Pictures really make the posts fun and entertaining, at least that’s my feeling on the matter. With more and more of my time being dedicated to work I will do my best to keep the blog updated when time permits. The featured image is my work truck (GMC diesel) and here is me hard at work.
