This last Sunday Dale and I toured a few beach parks on the Hilo side of the island. Bonny and I will be coming back on a week day to explore some of these places when they aren’t quite so busy. This road drops you down by the ocean and then comes backup underneath the main road by some water falls. It looks like their might be some places to cliff jump, I will up date you on that after we explore it a little more on our own.
I don’t remember the name of this beach (pictured above) but it’s a popular local surf spot just a few miles north of Hilo.
All of these other pictures were taken at Kola kola beach park. Their are a few little beautiful waterfalls here, if you look closely you can see one of them in the background of this last picture. Just before arriving here we had taken a little scenic route, I didn’t get any pictures of the scenic route mentioned but it had some awesome waterfalls, once again, we will explore it in coming weeks, take pictures and post them for your viewing pleasures. A lot of these roads have truly amazing scenery but the roads them selves would be much better suited for a dual sport motorcycle. You really have to pay attention on the bike here, if the drivers aren’t trying to kill you the potholes are and they literally develop over night. Typically the roads in the neighborhoods are the worst but even on the main roads you encounter lots of large holes and unexpected obstacles. But don’t worry, I’m a professional : ) Thanks again to Dale for showing me a couple of these gems as I had only read about them and had not found them yet on my own.
