Sunday the 27th we returned to Maku’u farmers market to pick up some more fruit.  The first thing I wanted to show you is these two Mango’s we got, they are kind of expensive at $2 ea but damn they are tasty.  What’s weird is the meat reminds me of that of a pumpkin, very similar in texture (not taste).  The pit inside a mango is also weird, they are almost rectangular in shape and some what difficult to cut around.  I will have to do some research and see if Mangos will grow at our elevation, they would be nice to have.

This next picture is a bowl of cereal next to a sliced pink guava followed by a pic of two more avocados ($1 ea), and four pink guava ($.25 ea).  The guava kind of looks like a lemon and they were very affordable.

Here are some more local seedless oranges and the last picture is of “praying hands” bananas.  Theses ones are almost in a tear drop shape.  Very different from the mainland varieties.  That’s the latest and greatest in the local fruit world.

Our blueberry plant has also been fruiting about one berry a week. I will include some pictures of that in the next fruit blog.
